# Does an educational video help teenagers with PMS knowledge and anxiety?

Yes. The study found the video was effective at increasing knowledge and improving behavior and reducing anxiety in teenagers with PMS (p = 0.0001). However, there was no control group so we cannot be certain the video caused the changes.

 Early or limited evidence

Teenage girls at Senior High School 1 Dawan Klungkung, Indonesia.

## What they did

Pre-experimental study using one-group pretest-posttest design at Senior High School 1 Dawan Klungkung in Indonesia. Teenage girls watched an educational video about premenstrual syndrome. Knowledge, behavior, and anxiety were measured before and after using the Wilcoxon test.

## What they found

The educational video was effective in increasing knowledge and behavior and reducing anxiety levels in teenagers with premenstrual syndrome (p = 0.0001).

## What it means for you

The video appears helpful for teenage girls to learn about PMS and reduce anxiety. However, without a control group, we cannot know whether the video itself caused the improvements or whether other factors such as attention or time caused the change. A larger study with a comparison group is needed.
