# Does a teaching programme about PMS improve nursing students' knowledge?

A structured teaching programme had a statistically significant effect on nursing students' knowledge about PMS. However, the study's results are confusing because it reported no significant difference between student groups at pre-test or post-test.

 Early or limited evidence

50 nursing students aged 19-21 at a nursing college in Faridkot, Punjab

## What they did

Quasi-experimental study. 50 nursing students aged 19-21 at a nursing college in Punjab. A structured teaching programme about PMS and its management was delivered, and knowledge was measured before and after.

## What they found

The difference in pre-test knowledge scores between control and experimental groups was not statistically significant. Post-test knowledge also showed no significant difference between groups. However, the study concluded there was a statistically significant effect of the teaching programme on students' knowledge.

## What it means for you

The results of this study are unclear and appear contradictory. The study included only nursing students aged 19-21 at one college, which limits whether results apply more broadly. The confusing results make it difficult to know if this teaching approach actually works.
