Researchers screened participants for PMS using ACOG guidelines and the Premenstrual Symptom Screening Tool (PSST), then gave those diagnosed the WHO Quality of Life Brief Version (WHO-QOL-BREF) scale. ## What they found Work efficiency and productivity were reduced by 27.63% in no/mild PMS, 94.73% in moderate/severe PMS, and 100% in PMDD. Family relationships were affected by 22.36%, 73.68%, and 57.14% respectively. Physical health scores dropped from 64.43 in no/mild PMS to 58.47 in moderate/severe to 52.86 in PMDD. Psychological health declined from 66.39 to 62.47 to 56.29. Social relationships and environmental health also declined. ## What it means for you PMS and PMDD substantially harm work performance, relationships, and overall wellbeing. The more severe the PMS, the greater the impact on quality of life.
