Study, 2026

# Do women with premenstrual symptoms use menstruation apps more?

Yes. Women with more severe period pain and more premenstrual symptoms used menstruation tracking apps more than other women.

 Moderate study design

730 women responding to online surveys

## What they did

730 women completed online surveys about their premenstrual symptoms and period pain using standard measurement scales.

## What they found

As period pain got worse, women used menstruation apps more. As both period pain and premenstrual symptoms increased, app use increased. Women with both dysmenorrhea and premenstrual symptoms used the apps more than other women.

## What it means for you

Women with heavier or more bothersome periods may find it helpful to track them with apps. However, this study only shows that women with worse symptoms use apps more, not whether the apps actually help reduce symptoms. The study does not say where the women were from or other details about them.
