Survey study, 2014

# Is a short six-question survey reliable for measuring PMS impact on daily life?

Yes. The Turkish version of the Premenstrual Symptoms Impact Survey is reliable and valid for measuring how much PMS affects women's daily functioning and well-being.

 Moderate study design

63 women of reproductive age in Turkey

## What they did

Researchers translated a six-question health survey into Turkish and tested it with 63 healthy women. They checked whether the survey gave consistent results, measured what it was supposed to measure, and correlated with another Turkish PMS questionnaire.

## What they found

The survey had high content validity (91%), good test-retest reliability (0.70), high internal consistency (0.89), good agreement with another PMS scale (0.70 correlation, p=0.001), and valid measurement structure with one main factor explaining 65.1% of variation.

## What it means for you

Doctors in Turkey can confidently use this six-question survey to assess PMS severity and track whether treatment is working. The main limits are that it was only tested in Turkey with a small sample, so results might differ in other populations.
