Does aerobic exercise with video help reduce PMS symptoms?
Aerobic exercise guided by video significantly reduced PMS symptoms in teenage girls. The study design included a control group, so this is reasonably strong evidence, though it was limited to one health college in Indonesia.
What they did
Quasi-experimental study with two groups and pre-test post-test with control design. 102 female teenagers at a health college. Used video-guided aerobic exercise and measured PMS symptoms using a standard questionnaire before and after the intervention.
What they found
PMS symptom scores decreased from 17.39 before exercise to 13.52 after exercise. This difference was statistically significant (p=0.000).
What it means for you
Aerobic exercise with video guidance significantly reduces PMS symptoms in teenage girls. The study did not report details about how often or for how long the exercise was done, and included only teenagers at one health college in Indonesia, so results may not apply to all women.
