Does the homeopathic remedy Phosphorus help with PMS?

In this one 35-year-old woman with recurring PMS headaches and other symptoms, yes - Phosphorus led to marked improvement in both mental and physical symptoms. But this is one person's story, so we can't be sure it would work for others.

Early or limited evidence One 35-year-old woman with PMS headaches, irritability, fatigue, muscle soreness, and constipation lasting 4-5 years

What they did

A doctor studied one 35-year-old woman with PMS. She had recurring headaches before her period, along with irritability, fatigue, muscle soreness, and constipation, lasting 4-5 years. The doctor took a detailed case history, analyzed her symptoms, and prescribed the homeopathic remedy Phosphorus. They followed her progress through successive menstrual cycles.

What they found

The patient showed marked improvement in both mental and physical symptoms over successive menstrual cycles. Specifically, her headaches, irritability, fatigue, muscle soreness, and constipation all improved.

What it means for you

The homeopathic remedy Phosphorus may help some women with PMS headaches and related symptoms. The main limit is that this is one woman's experience with no comparison group, so we can't know if the improvement came from Phosphorus or from something else.
