Can Periodin reduce premenstrual syndrome symptoms?
In a small uncontrolled study, 24 women taking Periodin for 3 months reported a 52.3% decrease in symptoms, but without a control group we cannot be sure the improvement came from the supplement.
Early or limited evidence 24 women with PMS in the premenopausal period, average age 44.7 years
What they did
24 women with PMS took Periodin (a supplement containing vitamins, minerals, and plant extracts) at 1 to 2 capsules daily for 3 months. Symptoms were measured using a modified scoring system.
What they found
After treatment, PMS symptoms decreased by 52.3% from baseline.
What it means for you
While the symptom improvement was substantial, this study had no control group for comparison, making it unclear whether improvement was due to the supplement or other factors. The sample was small.
