Survey study, 2020
Can teaching about PMS management improve girls' knowledge?
Yes. Before teaching, all girls had below-average knowledge about managing PMS. After the teaching program, most girls had average or good knowledge.
What they did
50 high school girls aged 12-15 answered a questionnaire about managing PMS, then received a structured teaching program, then answered the same questionnaire again.
What they found
Before the program, 100% of girls were below average in knowledge. After the program, 60% had average knowledge, 38% had good knowledge, and 2% had poor knowledge. Pre-test mean score was 10.14; post-test mean score was 23.06.
What it means for you
A teaching program can increase girls' knowledge about managing PMS. However, this was one school in one city, and the study only measured knowledge, not whether girls' behavior changed or symptoms improved.
