Does Ayurvedic medicine help women with PMS?
One 18-year-old woman with PMS was treated with Ayurvedic herbs and lifestyle advice for 15 days.
What they did
One woman who had severe mood swings, anger, irritability, tearfulness, nervousness, vomiting, and loose motions before her period for 6 years received Ayurvedic herbs (Gokhura churna, Yastimadhu, and Munnaka) for 15 days. She was also advised to follow a traditional routine called Rajaswalacharya.
What they found
The medical team completed the prescribed treatment plan, giving her the herbs internally for 15 days.
What it means for you
This describes one person's case at one clinic. Since it's just one woman, we cannot know if the herbs helped her PMS or if something else made a difference. To know if Ayurvedic treatment works, researchers would need to study many more women.
