Does an herbal complex help women with menstrual cycle problems?
After 3 months, prolactin levels decreased and progesterone levels increased. No side effects were reported, but the small size and lack of a control group make it unclear if the herb caused these changes.
What they did
43 women of reproductive age with menstrual or hormonal problems took 1 capsule of an herbal complex twice daily for 3 months. Complete data were available for 41 women. Hormone levels and stress were measured before and after.
What they found
After 3 months, prolactin levels decreased and progesterone levels increased. No adverse reactions occurred during the 3-month course.
What it means for you
The hormone changes suggest the herbal complex might help regulate cycles, but this was a small study with no comparison group. Larger controlled trials are needed to confirm any benefit.

Original abstract
Menstrual and ovulatory dysfunction in women of reproductive age has a multifactorial origin and may be associated with disorders in neuroendocrine regulation, particularly in the context of prolonged psycho-emotional stress. The search for evidence-based approaches to the management of these conditions remains relevant. The objective: to evaluate the effect of a complex of biologically active herbal components on the hormonal profile of women of reproductive age with menstrual and/or ovulatory dysfunction, taking into account psycho-emotional stress.Materials and methods. Clinical and statistical, laboratory, hormonal, instrumental, questionnaire-based methods, and theoretical analysis of scientific and methodological literature.A prospective clinical study included 43 women of reproductive age with polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome, oligomenorrhea, anovulatory cycles and anovulation, ovulatory dysfunction, abnormal uterine bleeding, premenstrual syndrome, and functional hyperprolactinemia. The participants received the herbal complex at a dose of 1 capsule twice daily for 3 months. Complete paired data at 3 months were available for 41 women. Clinical data and changes in the hormonal profile were assessed; psycho-emotional stress was evaluated using the 10-item Perceived Stress Scale.Results. After 3 months of treatment, prolactin levels decreased, while progesterone concentrations increased. No adverse reactions were reported during the 3-month course.Conclusions. The observed changes in hormonal parameters suggest a potentially beneficial effect of the investigated multi-component herbal complex on certain mechanisms of neuroendocrine regulation of reproductive function. These findings require confirmation in controlled studies involving larger patient populations.
